Cicco Simonetta’s “Regule”

One of the very few 15th century accounts we have on decrypting ciphertexts was a two-page document written (or, at least, written down) by Cicco Simonetta in Pavia in 1474.

The text’s full title is: Regule ad extrahendum litteras ziferatas sine exemplo.
